95% of the time we are acting automatically. We have those programs that condition us from childhood and that have been taught/learned by our environment, be it the closest people who have surrounded us in our childhood and that environment in which we grew up or grew up. Obviously we can't fight against that, "by heart" but once we wake up and realize that many of those pre-established habits in our previous stages are the main cause of all our inconveniences, we must start working on changing them or rather in modifying them. It is said that a new habit is created or an existing one is replaced in 21 days, others say that in 30 and others more than in 60 days, the truth is that it can be changed, the continuous practice of an activity of repeatedly executing an action , leads to that, to establish a new habit, which we hope will be more beneficial than the old one that is being replaced. All this is due to what is now known as Neuroplasticity (which you can read in depth in articles by Joe Dispensa, Andrew Huberman among others)
In the last years of my life, I have worked to change many of the habits, many of them pre-established in our genes, and reinforced by our upbringing with those who have done the same for decades. Having to eat three times a day, thinking over and over again or even repeating the same emotions which leads to the same actions, practicing being silent for 5-7 minutes at least twice a day, this benefits us only to deal with those negative thoughts and filter them until they no longer cause us any more discomfort (not to mention pain). Another is the constant practice of physical exercise, which has been shown many times by many studies that it benefits us in all aspects of our life, the secret to all this is perseverance and discipline.
We must work on being wise, this is achieved by consciously discerning between good and bad, between what benefits us and what does not, what to take and what to discard. Above all, we must work on being a virtuous human being, that is, having the willingness to act in accordance with certain ideals to seek the common good and, thus, find personal good. It is acting correctly.
In conclusion, I could tell you that we must discard what is bad and rescue or preserve what makes us great and fills us in the most basic aspects of the human being, in kindness, respect, compassion, benevolence.
Remember, you can change absolutely everything from within, it takes time but it can be done, with dedication, dedication, practice and the conviction that what we do is done for our own good and for the good of all.
